THE PREDICTION

World number 13 Cam Norrie comes into the clay swing on a clean slate after an early upset defeat to Gregoire Barrere at the Miami Open two weeks ago. The 27-year-old is an excellent all-courter with two clay trophies amongst his five career titles so far and he only recently claimed his best on the surface at the expense of Carlos Alcaraz at the Rio Open in February. World number 33 Francisco Cerundolo did well to come close to emulating his run to the semi-finals of the Miami Open last season, losing to Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals this time around. The 24-year-old claimed his maiden ATP title at the Bastad Open last summer but he will have been disappointed by his efforts on the South American swing back in February. Norrie beat Cerundolo in straight sets en-route to the Lyon Open, on clay, almost a year ago and he can be backed to come through this tough opener as the outright winner.
