THE PREDICTION
World number 20 Borna Coric owns three ATP titles, one on each surface, with his first coming on clay at the Marrakech Open back in 2017 and his most prestigious coming last August at the Cincinnati Masters. The 26-year-old takes a three-match losing streak into the Monte-Carlo Open after struggling with form so far this season but it should not take the Croat long to rediscover it. World number 59 Nicolas Jarry is a real anomaly, though, given his recent resurgence on tour. The Chilean spent much of the last two seasons in the wilderness before suddenly bursting into life on the South American clay swing in February, culminating with a title-winning campaign on home soil at the Santiago Open. 27-year-old Jarry lost his first match back since that title in three sets to Andrea Vavassori in Marrakech this week but he should be better for it here. A first meeting between the two could well see three sets but despite Jarry’s clear form on clay backing Coric to earn at least a set as the likelier winner still looks the sensible move.
