THE PREDICTION

World number 12 Hubert Hurkacz has struggled to impose himself on the bigger tournaments in recent times but he claimed a sixth ATP title at the Open 13 in Marseille back in February. The 26-year-old tends to struggle on clay against the more natural players on this surface and that suggests a real upset is in the offing in this first meeting with world number 43 Bernabe Zapata Miralles. The Spaniard, also 26, reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros last season in a brief flash of what he is capable of on clay and he enjoyed some consistent runs on the South American swing in February. A straight-sets victory over home hopeful Henrique Rocha was a solid enough start on Tuesday but Zapata Miralles will have to be at his best to get past Hurkacz here. Take the Spaniard to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance, with plenty of Hurkacz’ recent matches seeing a decider.
