THE PREDICTION
This will be a fascinating quick rematch between world number 11 Belinda Bencic and number 17 Ekaterina Alexandrova after the Russian won their third round clash at the Miami Open two weeks ago, levelling their head-to-head record at 3-3. Defending champion Bencic beat Alexandrova in the semi-finals here last season on her way to the title but the pair share a fascinating head-to-head that sees a win apiece each on hard, grass and clay to suggest this will be a proper thriller. 28-year-old Alexandrova is yet to drop a set this week after two solid wins and she takes the better recent form into this clash after reaching the quarter-finals of the Miami Open last week, losing in three to eventual champion Petra Kvitova. However, Bencic fought back from a set down on Thursday to oust giant-killer Shelby Rogers and that suggests the Swiss is ready for another fight in what has so far been an excellent season. Back Alexandrova to earn at least a set here given her recent win over Bencic and leave the victor up to chance.
