THE PREDICTION

World number seven Ons Jabeur conceded just four games to Bernarda Pera on Monday to continue what was initially a quite unlikely charge towards the latter stages in Paris. The 28-year-old has now reached the quarter-finals at all four Grand Slams but she has some way to go yet to emulate her personal best after finishing runner-up at Wimbledon and the US Open last summer. 27-year-old Beatriz Haddad-Maia has extended her own personal milestone by reaching her first quarter-final of a major tournament via another epic against Sara Sorribes Tormo. The world number 14 has featured in three of the longest matches on the WTA tour this year after beating Sorribes Tormo in just under four hours on Monday and three three-set matches on the spin in Paris may contribute to her downfall here against Jabeur, who has spent just one hour more on-court in her whole campaign combined.

The Tunisian beat Haddad-Maia in straight sets at this stage of the Stuttgart Open two months ago and she has offered little evidence to suggest she cannot come through this second meeting on clay this season. Back Jabeur to win outright given Haddad-Maia’s penchant for a three-setter.
