THE PREDICTION
19-year-old Arthur Fils stunned top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in two tight tiebreaks on Saturday to reach his second final on tour this season. The Frenchman will move back up to a career-high ATP world ranking of 38th but he could rise as high as 34th with victory here and he brings plenty of confidence into the clash after lifting the Lyon trophy in his maiden final back in May. 26-year-old Alexander Bublik set a career-high of 25th after winning his second and most prestigious ATP title at the Halle 500 in June but he brought a six-match losing streak into Antwerp that stretched back to his round of 16 exit at Wimbledon. The Kazakh is probably the most unpredictable player on tour but he has played well to overcome his latest trough, although Fils will provide his toughest match by some distance this week.
Fils will likely receive a near-partisan backing early on in this clash but Bublik’s charisma should earn him some back if he can dent the youngster’s confidence. Back Fils to earn at least a set and add at least one tiebreak in the match, with the Frenchman seeing four in his three matches so far. If forced to side with a winner, Bublik’s 2-6 record in finals hands an edge to Fils in this first encounter between the two.
