THE PREDICTION
30-year-old Roberto Carballes Baena played well to come back from a set down to beat Dan Evans on Saturday as he continues to enjoy some strong form in 2023. The Spaniard will set a new career-high ATP world ranking no matter the outcome here but he could rise as high as 50th with victory here in only his second ever final on tour, his first seeing him lift the Quito Open on clay in 2018. 26-year-old Alexandre Muller has also enjoyed an upturn in form this season and he will break the top 100 on tour for the first time no matter the outcome here after a straight-sets victory over Pavel Kotov. Muller upset both Richard Gasquet and top seed Lorenzo Musetti this week to look the favourite on results and its is likely that Carballes Baena may suffer some tightness in this final with so few opportunities in his career. Muller as nothing to lose in this first final ever but RCB is certainly the more comfortable on clay and he beat the Frenchman in straight sets in their only previous encounter at Roland-Garros back in 2019. The Spaniard should be able to come through this to lift the title but three sets seem likelier than two, so back RCB to earn at least one or risk the outright call.
