26-year-old Alexandre Muller will break the top 100 on tour for the first time if he can reach the Marrakech Open final whilst 24-year-old Pavel Kotov can rise back up to a career-high 96th in the world if he wins here. It would be both players’ maiden tour final to make this the biggest match of their respective careers so far and both are deserving of their place after Muller has upset Richard Gasquet and top seed Lorenzo Musetti this week whilst Kotov has battled through three tough challengers, including seventh seed Benjamin Bonzi. The pair have yet to meet on court but Kotov, on the face of it, the more comfortable clay courter in this match up whilst Muller brings the best form for 2023 so far. Taking the match to see three sets could be the shrewd move here but given his excellent result over Musetti on Friday back Muller to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance.
