THE PREDICTION

World number 23 Alexander Bublik continues to impress in his newfound resolve on tour, throwing aside his previous penchant for fluctuating results to look ready for a first foray into the top 20. The 26-year-old came back from a set down to beat in-form Tomas Machac on Monday and he improved on that with a straight-sets victory, via two tiebreaks, over Tallon Griekspoor to make the last eight in Dubai. World number 36 Jiri Lehecka grabbed the upset of the tournament so far when he came back from a set down to stun Qatar Open champion Karen Khachanov on Wednesday but this will be a completely different test against Bublik’s all-out attack. 22-year-old Lehecka will probably end up with the more successful, longer term career than his Kazakh opponent here but this first meeting looks like Bublik’s to lose. Back the seventh seed to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable semi-finalists. You could add a tiebreak for good measure here, with Bublik seeing three and Lehecka two already this week.

TIP: ALEXANDER BUBLIK TO WIN A SET (AND OVER 0.5 TIEBREAKS)
