THE PREDICTION
World number 10 Alex de Minaur made it six wins on the spin with a consummate victory over Taro Daniel on Friday, backing-up his excellent defence of the Mexican Open title last weekend. The 25-year-old first moved inside the top 10 this season after stunning Novak Djokovic at the United Cup, claiming the biggest ranking win of his career, and a first victory in 12 attempts over Stefanos Tsitsipas last week in Acapulco is further proof that the Aussie has found an extra gear this year.
26-year-old Alexander Bublik brought a career-high ATP world ranking of 20th into Indian Wells and he looked resolute in a avoiding an upset against up-and-coming teenager Jerry Shang. The 26-year-old claimed the fourth ATP title of his career, and a third within the past nine months, at the Montpellier Open in February and he finished runner-up to Ugo Humbert at the Dubai 500 two weeks ago to bring some excellent form to the Sunshine Double. De Minaur leads their head-to-head record 2-0 as things stand but both players have significantly improved since their last encounter in Barcelona three years ago. Back De Minaur to earn at least a set in his current vein of form but both players are well capable of peaking in this contest to make the last 16.
TIP: ALEX DE MINAUR TO WIN A SET
