THE LOWDOWN

AJLA TOMLJANOVIC

A come-from-behind victory over Alize Cornet in the fourth round means it is a second Wimbledon quarter-final in succession for Ajla Tomljanovic, who clearly feels at home on the SW19 grass.

ELENA RYBAKINA

Elena Rybakina’s form coming into Wimbledon was hardly much to write home about but the 23-year-old has well and truly stepped up her game this past week, with all four of her matches being won in straight sets.

THE PREDICTION

There is certainly no obvious favourite in this one. Although Rybakina has yet to concede a set in the tournament, it can be argued that she had a rather kind route to the quarter-finals as she has not come up against a seeded player so far. Tomljanovic should provide a stern test and she has showed her fighting qualities in her last two matches, coming from a set down in both. With this one being such a tough call, the wise approach in the betting markets could very well be to back the match going to a third set, although we’re giving Tomljanovic a slight edge.
