THE PREDICTION
Alex de Minaur claimed the best win of his young career on Sunday with a straight-sets victory over world number seven Matteo Berrettini. The Aussie enraptured the Sydney crowd after Italy took the opening rubber for a 1-0 lead and that atmosphere inspired their doubles team to success and a huge ATP Cup upset over the pre-tournament favourites. 22-year-old De Minaur will have to play even better than his best match ever if he is to beat the world number two Daniil Medvedev. The 25-year-old lost from a set up to Ugo Humbert on Sunday in another shock in what has been a vastly entertaining tournament so far but he will be the more ruthless for it in this second match of his campaign - especially after the emotion of beating France in the deciding doubles alongside Roman Safiullin.
De Minaur is well capable of taking a set here, as he has done so in two of the three losses in his career against Medvedev so far, but the Russian should be too hot to handle by the end of what should be a thriller. Take Medvedev to win outright.
