THE PREDICTION
18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz might have qualified for the year-end ATP Finals with an extra few months’ time but the Spaniard is on the fast-track to success and the solid favourite to win the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan. The world number 32 kicked things off with an eventually comprehensive straight-sets victory over fellow teenager future star Holger Rune, their first of many meetings to come, but he faces the toughest man in Group A on hardcourts in Brandon Nakashima next. 20-year-old Nakashima finished runner-up at two ATP 250 finals in a row this summer at the Los Cabos Open and Atlanta Open and he beat the likes of John Isner on two occasions as well as Dan Evans, Milos Raonic and Alex de Minaur. Both players are up to their career-high ATP world rankings and likely to push on heavily again next year but it is hard to see past Alcaraz taking this one and probably in three.
