If there were seeds at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, this would be first versus second as world number 32 Carlos Alcaraz takes on a player three years his senior in world number 39 Sebastian Korda. 18-year-old Alcaraz has been sublime this week, dropping just the one set all tournament in a dead rubber with Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The Spaniard beat surprise package Sebastian Baez in straight sets in the semi-finals to show for excellent nerve against a player who had spent the campaign upsetting the odds and he looks a solid favourite to lift this illustrious title. 21-year-old Korda has been in more of a war this week in Milan with five sets needed to beat Higo Gaston in his first group match and again in the semi-finals against fellow American Brandon Nakashima.
Alcaraz and Korda are almost certain to play-out many more matches to come at the top of the sport, with a first meeting between the two in the Next Gen Final a perfect beginning to an exciting rivalry. On recent form this looks a tough call but overall this season Carlos Alcaraz has been the truest rising star and he should be backed to make that official with a win here.
