- 17 aces and 10 double faults in that match for the 22-year-old could be of some concern moving forward but the Greek also saved three break point opportunities on his serve in impressive circumstances.
MIKAEL YMER
- Sweden’s Mikael Ymer has made the third round of the Australian Open the hard way, beating an in-form Hubert Hurkacz in five sets before coming back from a set down to wonderkid Carlos Alcaraz.
- The 22-year-old has faced Stefanos Tsitsipas just under a year ago at the Open 13 in Marseille, where the Greek won in straight sets on his way to winning that title for a second year running.
THE PREDICTION
This should be a vastly entertaining match between Mikael Ymer and Stefanos Tsitsipas, though Ymer’s chances are slim. The Swede’s performances thus far have been excellent but the test that Tsitsipas faced against Thanasi Kokkinakis was just the sort of wake-up call he needed early-on after such a dominative first round match over Gilles Simon. The Greek has yet to be broken on serve and Ymer will struggle to be the first here. The match will see some exciting play from both sides but Tsitsipas should be winning this in straight sets.
