39-year-old Feliciano Lopez was up against it from the off against an unranked opponent in Australia’s Li Tu but the Spanish veteran managed to fight back from a set down to win in four. The world number 65 sent down 21 aces in his match against Tu and he will look to rely on his serving more and more as he tries to conserve energy in his own service games in these arduous five-set matches. Lorenzo Sonego will be targeting that from the off against Lopez here after facing off a serve specialist in Sam Querrey in his first round match, beating the out-of-sorts American in straight sets. The world number 35 is the 31st seed at the Australian Open and has reached the second round for only the second time in Melbourne after losing to Nick Kyrgios in the first last season. He should be able to reach the third round for the first time here but both players can take a set in the process.
