Spanish wonderkid Carlos Alcaraz was handed one of the better draws in the first round but still did exceptionally well to beat his opponent, Botic van de Zandschulp, in comfortable straight sets. The 17-year-old is currently ranked at world number 141 and amped up the hype around him by beating first seed David Goffin in the second round of the Great Ocean Road Open last week. Alcaraz faces 22-year-old Mikael Ymer, who got the better of Delray Beach Open champion Hubert Hurkacz on Monday in five gruelling sets which is particularly impressive considering how well the Pole had been playing. This looks like a must-watch between two young and exciting players and it is hard to side with either of them here. The 17-year-old’s star is already on a fierce trajectory but beating Hubert Hurkacz right now is no mean feat. Both players can take a set here but other than that it seems like an unmissable 50/50 that may well go to a decider.
