The prediction

Two teams with similar recent fortunes clash at the SCG in a match with significant top-eight implications.

Sydney (11th) recorded an impressive 19-point victory over Port Adelaide (71-52) on the road in Round 15. The win has kept their slim finals hopes alive, and they have now won two of their last three games. 

Isaac Heeney was instrumental in the Swans' victory over Port Adelaide, with his elite ball use a standout feature. He gathered 28 disposals and booted two crucial goals.

Western Bulldogs (8th) are in formidable form, having thrashed Richmond by 79 points (135-56) in Round 15. The Bulldogs have also won two out of three matches and are building momentum at the right time of the season.

For the Western Bulldogs, captain Marcus Bontempelli was simply incredible against the Tigers, collecting 36 disposals, 12 score involvements and three goals.

The record between these two juggernauts has been fairly even in recent times. When they last met in Round 20 of the 2024 season, the Bulldogs emerged with a comfortable 87-48 victory. While Sydney won the match prior in Round 11 by 14 points.

The Swans will be buoyed by their recent win and will relish the challenge of taking on a top-eight side at home. However, the Bulldogs' star-studded midfield and potent forward line will pose a significant threat.
