The prediction

St Kilda (15th) was competitive but ultimately outclassed by a more polished Geelong outfit in Round 19, going down by 113-82. It has been a season of inconsistency for the Saints, who have been unable to string together strong performances.

Melbourne (13th) fought hard but lost a tight contest to Carlton by 78-70. Their season has been a significant disappointment, marked by frustrating inconsistency and an inability to convert their opportunities.

For St Kilda, rising star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera has been a shining light all season. He continued his brilliant form against the Cats, racking up 36 disposals, 10 clearances and two goals in a display of pure class.

For Melbourne, livewire forward Kysaiah Pickett was electric in the loss to Carlton. He provided a much-needed spark and a lone hand in attack, kicking five goals from his 23 disposals in a superb individual effort.

St Kilda recorded a memorable 28-point victory over Melbourne when they last met in Round 12 of this season. That match was infamous for Melbourne's shocking inaccuracy in front of goal, where they kicked a score of 7.21.

This is an exceptionally difficult game to predict between two sides low on form and confidence. On paper, Melbourne possesses greater top-end talent, but their inability to play with any consistency has been their downfall. St Kilda proved in Round 12 that their system can exploit Melbourne's weaknesses. Expect a scrappy, hard-fought contest.
