THE PREDICTION
It’s been a solid season for last year’s Masters winner Yan Bingtao, so it is no surprise to see the young Chinese star reach the quarter-final stage in Sheffield, but the fact that he eliminated defending champion Mark Selby will no doubt give him plenty of confidence. Here he faces another of the game’s greats though, with Mark Williams appearing in his 11th Crucible quarter-final. The Welshman was in formidable form in his thrashing of close friend Jackson Page in the second round and, combined with his opening-round victory over Michael White, he has dropped just six frames so far in Sheffield. The confident Bingtao should provide a sterner test though, and a close contest is expected, so over 20 frames is the suggested betting market.
