Shakhtar Donetsk produced an impressive performance to defeat Lech Poznan by three goals to one in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16 tie, courtesy of goals from Marlon, Newerton and Isaque Silva.
The Ukrainians were knocked off top and even second spot domestically last season but they are rediscovering their Brazilian-influenced identity – and could well go very deep into this tournament.
Lech would have fancied themselves with both legs in Poland and the lack of home advantage for Shakhtar should ensure they remain strong but the nominal hosts remain favourites.
