NSW WARATAHS

• NSW Waratahs will hope that a week off can rejuvenate them for the second half of their campaign as they look to put back-to-back losses behind them after they were beaten by Melbourne Rebels in their latest outing.
• The Waratahs have won just one of their four matches in Super Rugby AU so far and will be desperate to improve on that record as they host the Reds but they have plenty of work to do after they were kept scoreless in the second half of their 10-29 loss to the Rebels.
• Centre Lalakai Foketi will return for the Waratahs after he managed to shake off a troublesome hamstring injury while there is further good news with captain Rob Simmons cleared to play after overcoming a rib injury.

REDS

• Reds remain right in the hunt for the Super Rugby AU title but they suffered their first loss of the competition last week as they were edged by the Brumbies in a thrilling encounter and they must bounce back here.
• The Reds thought they had done enough to secure the points when the Brumbies missed with a late conversion attempt but a penalty as time expired was successfully converted which condemned Queensland to defeat.
• There is an exciting selection on the Reds’ bench this week with huge teenage prop Zane Nonggorr set to make his Super Rugby debut while Jordan Petaia will start on the wing after his successful return from injury last weekend.

THE PREDICTION

Reds can close the gap on Brumbies at the top of the Super Rugby AU standings but they must produce the goods in this game with NSW Waratahs. The Reds lost in excruciating fashion last week as a last-gasp penalty saw them edged by the Brumbies in what could turn out to be a pivotal contest. They now face the Waratahs who come into this on the back of their bye week but with just one win from their four matches so far, the Reds should have too much for them and they can put themselves back into contention for the title.
