Zebre are rock-bottom of the United Rugby Championship with five defeats from five played and they continued that trend into the Challenge Cup last weekend with a 13-26 defeat by the Top 14’s Biarritz. The Italian side now travel to almost certain doom here against another French side, with Toulon fresh from a break as one of the three sides sitting out the opening round of fixtures. Toulon’s domestic season has been far from ideal but they will enjoy a likely thrashing at home to the worst side in the tournament as a welcome break from disappointing performances.
