England pulverised Tonga 69-3 last Saturday in an expected show of dominance that saw some promising displays from Marcus Smith and Adam Radwan in a fresh, expressive outfit that looks set to enjoy the day again here. Smith starts at 10 with Owen Farrell at inside centre but covid-19 has caught out Joe Marler and now Ellis Genge who both miss out to leave the hosts light. Australia were part of a thrilling test at Murrayfield last Sunday but a 15-13 defeat by Scotland is another disappointing result for the Wallabies in 2021.
England have won each of the last seven international tests against Australia, with their 40-16 victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals a particularly emphatic result. The Wallabies’ last win in this fixture did come at Twickenham at the previous Rugby World Cup in 2015 but barring a tight 40-44 result in the 2016 tour of Australia, England have been fairly comfortable winners over the last five years.
