THE TEAM NEWS

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

  • Canterbury Bulldogs made it back-to-back wins for the first time this season as they ran out convincing winners over Wests Tigers last time out and there is a newly-found confidence within their camp after their recent performances.
  • The Bulldogs have named the same 17 that saw off the Tigers as they go in search of a third successive victory although they have suffered a blow with interim head coach Mick Potter testing positive for COVID-19 so he will not be in attendance.

Starting 13: Averillo, Kiraz, Schoupp, Allan, Addo-Carr, Burton, Flanagan, King, Marshall-King, Vaughan, Jackson, Faitala-Mariner, Pangai Jnr. – Interchanges: Dockar-Clay, Waddell, Stimson, Morrin – Reserves: Casey, Biondi-Odo, Tanner, Edwards, Topine

Unavailable: Matt Doorey, Jack Hetherington, Braidon Burns, Billy Tsikrikas, Luke Thompson, Chris Patolo

CRONULLA SHARKS

  • Cronulla Sharks were far from at their best but they were able to secure a second win in-a-row as they overcame bottom of the ladder Gold Coast Titans in their latest matchup which saw them move into the top four.
  • The Sharks will come into this clash with the same side that took to the field against the Titans in their eight-point success but head coach Craig Fitzgibbon will be looking for more from his players in what is a potentially tricky matchup.

Starting 13: Kennedy, Katoa, Ramien, Talakai, Mulitalo, Moylan, Hynes, Rudolf, Brailey, Hunt, Nikora, Graham, McInnes – Interchanges: Tolman, Finucane, Wilton, Fifita – Reserves: Tracey, Finucane, Miller, Colquhoun, Dykes

Unavailable: Jack Williams, Braden Hamlin-Uele

THE PREDICTION

Canterbury Bulldogs will believe they have turned the corner after winning their last two matches but another win here could give them an unlikely glimmer of hope in a bid to make the finals. Having struggled for much of the campaign under Trent Barrett, the arrival of interim boss Mick Potter has been the catalyst for a huge improvement in performances, culminating with their successive victories. However, he will be forced to miss this game after a positive COVID-19 test result and with the Sharks also winning their last two as well as producing much more quality throughout the year, Cronulla are favoured to get the job done here.
