Real Mallorca appear to have come through their dodgy run of form as they chase European qualification this season ahead of the visit of Deportivo Alaves to Son Moix this weekend.

How to watch on TV: UK – Premier Sports / US – ESPN have the exclusive rights to La Liga games in the USA, so Real Mallorca vs Alaves may be televised on one of their affiliated channels

How to watch online: UK – Premier Sports / US – ESPN+

Real Mallorca Preview: Steadied Majorcans

Under the management of former Osasuna boss Jago Arrasate, Real Mallorca have slightly tweaked their style to becoming more patient on the ball and they have become more effective as they chase a top seven or eight finish in La Liga and European qualification as a result.

The Balearic Islanders suffered three successive defeats within the last month but now come into this one on the back of collecting five points from their last three matches with Martin Valjent scoring a second-half stoppage-time equaliser away to Sevilla last time out.

Alaves Preview: Poor decision-making

For most of last season, it appeared the Deportivo Alaves board wanted to sack Luis Garcia Plaza but he eventually led them to the top-half of the table in their first season back in La Liga. He was sacked with them in mid-table in December and things have got dramatically worse.

He was replaced by former Celta boss Eduardo Coudet and he has overseen their fall back into the bottom three and the relegation places. They were most recently beaten 1-0 by Espanyol at the Mendizorroza last weekend to mean they have one win in 12 under the new management.

Real Mallorca Team News: Johan Mojica suspension

Colombia international left-back Johan Mojica has been a key man for Mallorca throughout the campaign but he is missing through suspension this weekend. Samu Costa has also been crucial but he is an injury concern alongside former Villarreal midfielder Manu Morlanes.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Greif; Pablo Maffeo, Valjent, Antonio Raillo, Copete; Omar Mascarell, Sergi Darder; Asano, Dani Rodriguez, Valery; Muriqi

Unavailable: Johan Mojica (Suspended), Samu Costa (Injured), Manu Morlanes (Injured)

Questionable:

Alaves Team News: Jesus Owono a doubt

With Antonio Sivera out injured or a while, Jesus Owono has been Alaves’ number one but the former is now back and the latter is now himself an injury concern. They are also still without former RB Leipzig man Hugo Novoa as well as Tomas Conechny.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Antonio Sivera; Tenaglia, Abqar, Santiago Mourino, Diarra; Carlos Vicente, Antonio Blanco, Joan Jordan, Carles Alena; Toni Martinez, Kike

Unavailable: Hugo Novoa (Injured), Conechny (Injured)

Questionable: Jesus Owono (Injured), Carlos Benavidez (Injured)

Real Mallorca vs Alaves Prediction

Real Mallorca have tried to play a more progressive and passing style of football and they haven’t quite been efficient enough in attack with a more deliberate and controlled possession-based approach. They face an Alaves side that are naturally low-scoring and reactive, despite Eduardo Coudet’s best efforts, and they also appear destined for the drop at this stage. Given they appear to have turned their corner, as well as having home advantage, siding with the Majorcans looks the way to go for this one.
