The 23-year-old will now meet Herbert, who backed up some resilient wins in qualifying with an impressive 4-6 6-3 6-2 win over clay-specialist Federico Coria.
The 34-year-old somehow overcame 12 double faults and 54 unforced errors to take down the Argentine, whose lack of firepower proved costly as he could only muster ten winners across three sets.
Bellucci has the weapons to do more damage and also has the recent memory of a 6-4 6-3 win over Herbert in their only meeting in a Challenger in Pau last year.
Herbert will need to tighten up on serve and reel in the over-zealous errors, but he will have to go for his shots against the eighth seed and it’ll take his best display of an already solid week to pull off the surprise.
