Ben Shelton vs Tommy Paul prediction
Ben Shelton faced a tough test in the Round of 16 against Arthur Rinderknech, having to come back from a set down to win in three. Rinderknech played extremely well, but Shelton edged the key moments to win 3-6, 6-4, 7-6.
He now faces compatriot Tommy Paul, who continued his fine form by beating France’s Quentin Halys 7-6, 6-4. Paul has won all three of his matches in straight sets, against Holger Rune, Daniel Merida and Halys, as he continues his strong end to the season.
Paul will relish the opportunity to test himself against Shelton. The pair have met on four previous occasions, all on hard courts, winning two matches apiece, with Paul winning their most recent meeting in Dallas back in 2024.
Shelton has come on leaps and bounds since then and has clearly had the better season, but on current form, Paul probably has the edge.
This really is a match that could go either way. Paul gets our marginal preference, but our play is on the game betting, as we can expect some long, drawn-out sets. Even if it does not go to a third, we still fancy a tie-break or two.
