Mai Hontama vs Magda Linette prediction

Mai Hontama came from a set down to beat Zhibek Kulambayeva and book her place in the quarter-finals of the Chennai Open. The Japanese player lost the first three games of the match and went on to lose set one. There were seven consecutive breaks of serve in the second set, though Hontama would go on to level proceedings. She was broken when serving for the match at 5-4 in the decider, but broke once more and closed it out at the second attempt to seal a 4-6 6-4 7-5 win after over three hours on court.

She now faces Magda Linette. The Pole won back-to-back matches for the first time since June on the WTA Tour after getting past Moyuka Uchijima. Linette edged a tight first set on a tiebreak, but raced clear in the second to win 7-6 (5) 6-1. 

Hontama leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a victory over Linette in Athens earlier this year. I expect the third seed to win on this occasion.
