Janice Tjen vs Robin Montgomery prediction

Janice Tjen continued the defence of her title at the Chennai Open after coming from a set down to beat Polina Kudermetova in the quarter-finals. Despite fighting back from 4-1 down in the first set, Tjen would fall behind after being broken for a second time in the 12th game. However, she responded strongly to win 5-7 6-4 6-2. The 24-year-old fired 13 aces on her way to victory. 

She will now face Robin Montgomery, after her win over Maaya Rajeshwaran Revatji. Montgomery was 3-2 down in the first set but then reeled off four games in a row to take the lead. The American, who won the Libema Open during the grass court season, broke on three more occasions in the second to win 6-4 6-2. 

Montgomery’s powerful game could cause problems for Tjen, but the latter has now won eight straight matches at the tournament and will be expected to reach her second straight final.
