Taylor Fritz vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction
After an arm problem caused Taylor Fritz all kinds of trouble in his opening two matches, he looked far more comfortable in his Round of 16 win over Frenchman Arthur Fils, running out a 6-3, 6-4 winner.
Fritz is chasing a place at the ATP Finals, and he knows he needs to win here to get there. Tommy Paul still has an outside chance of usurping him for that spot, but Fritz knows a win is a must if he is to have any chance of reaching Turin, which will only boost his motivation coming into this match.
Winning will be easier said than done, of course, against Carlos Alcaraz, who continues his sensational form. He has only played one match this week, beating Alex Michelsen in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round, before being handed a walkover in the Round of 16 when Matteo Berrettini was forced to withdraw. Alcaraz will therefore be incredibly fresh coming into this match.
The pair have met on seven previous occasions, with Alcaraz winning six of those encounters. That will be somewhat daunting for Fritz, who will be well aware of his record against the Spaniard.
All the motivation, in theory, is with Fritz, but the pressure is off Alcaraz, who is playing some of his best tennis at the minute. We think he eliminates Fritz not only from the Paris Masters, but also from ATP Finals contention.
