Magda Linette vs Anastasia Zakharova prediction

Magda Linette reached her first semi-final since June as she fought back from the brink to beat Mai Hontama in the quarter-finals of the Chennai Open. The Pole lost the first set and was broken at the start of the second as Hontama served for the match at 5-4 up. However, Linette broke back and reeled off three games in a row to level the encounter. The 34-year-old was also 4-2 down in the decider but again showed her battling qualities to win the remaining games and seal a 4-6 7-5 6-4 victory after two hours and 36 minutes.

She now takes on Anastasia Zakharova for a place in the final. Zakharova advanced after Lucrezia Stefanini retired in the second set of their last eight match, with the 24-year-old already leading 6-2 5-2.

These two faced each other for the first time just 10 days ago as Linette beat Zakharova in the first-round of the Guangzhou Open in straight sets. That match was competitive, and I expect to see another tight battle in this one.
