MOROCCO PREVIEW: LATE DRAMA… AGAIN

Morocco’s opening game against Argentina was mired in controversy. After establishing a 2-0 lead, they appeared to have conceded an equaliser in the 16th minute of added time. The game was suspended for over two hours due to a pitch invasion before the players returned to empty stands to play the final three minutes and Argentina’s second goal was chalked off for offside.

In their second game, Morocco then endured yet more late drama. After getting back to one apiece against the Ukrainians with a 64th minute penalty scored by Soufiane Rahimi, his third of the tournament, Ukraine then snatched all three points in the 98th minute.

IRAQ PREVIEW: FALLING TO THE ARGENTINES

Iraq’s squad have played a lot of football together but their star and key man is one of their three overage players, Aymen Hussein. Hussein scored the equaliser for Iraq as they went on to defeat Ukraine in their opening match by two goals to one.

Hussein then scored a first-half stoppage-time equaliser against the Argentinians before Javier Mascherano’s side eventually ran out as 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Luciano Gondou and Ezequiel Fernandez.

MOROCCO VS IRAQ PREDICTION

In what is an extremely intriguing affair in terms of the group table, it could well be a fascinating and entertaining clash for the neutrals, too. Both Morocco and Iraq know a defeat will see them eliminated but victory sees them through - regardless of what happens between Ukraine and Argentina. As a result, as has been the case in their first two matches, both teams scoring looks like a worthwhile bet for this one.
