The neglect from ownership group INEOS has left Nice with a squad whereby it is no surprise to see them sitting third-from-bottom and in the relegation playoff place in Ligue 1. Their defeat to Auxerre, who leapfrogged them in the table last weekend, could well prove to be damning for the future of the club.
They now face a Metz side, though, that were always expected to struggle after their promotion last season and they do indeed sit rock-bottom in the Ligue 1 table. The visitors have managed just three victories all season and were most recently hammered 4-0 by Lorient at Stade Saint-Symphorien.
Nice are in a very tough spot but they do have the ideal opposition to put the pressure on Auxerre, with a home win highly likely against Metz.
