MOHAMMED USMAN VS JAKE COLLIER LOWDOWN
Mohammed Usman (9-2) appears for the second time this year after collecting his second UFC dub at UFC Fight Night 222. He was coming off his clinical second-round knockout over Zac Pauga (2022) to earn The Ultimate Fighter 30 crown following it up with a measured unanimous decision over Junior Tafa back in April.
Now, he takes on the more experienced Jake Collier (13-9). He has not found life easy at heavyweight going 2-5 and is currently on a three-fight skid. He lost a split decision to Andrei Arlovski (2022) and got TKO’d by Chris Barnett (2022) before getting outpointed by Martin Buday back in April.
MOHAMMED USMAN VS JAKE COLLIER PREDICTION
Collier’s only wins in the division have come over Gian Villante and Chase Sherman. Although he performed well, those wins mean very little and Usman will not have seen anything to be wary of.
Collier’s experience and cardio can give Usman problems by mixing in takedowns with his volume. Usman is not the most technical wrestler, but he makes up for it with his brute strength. The same can be said about his striking and he can turn the lights off with one shot.
We are backing Usman to grind out a decision or find that knockout blow, but Coller holds all the value as the underdog.
Prediction: Usman via KO/TKO
Value bet: Collier to win
