Mingge Xu vs Peyton Stearns prediction
Mingge Xu is just 17-years-old but has played a full host of grass court events over the last few weeks and is making strides. She received a wildcard to make her WTA 125 debut at the Birmingham Classic and defeated top seed Alycia Parks in the first-round on her way to a brilliant quarter-final appearance. She then made her tour-level debut at Nottingham last week and recorded another impressive win with a victory over Katie Volynets, before losing to Magda Linette in the next round.
Peyton Stearns will be first up in round one. The American is the sixth seed at this tournament but will be making her bow on grass this season. She has suffered with illness and injury in recent times and hasn’t played since a comprehensive first-round defeat at Roland Garros to Eva Lys.
Stearns will be short of match fitness against her youthful opponent. Xu could cause the American some problems but we should expect Stearns to book her place into the next round.
