The prediction

There is only two points separating Melbourne Demons and Hawthorn which is not something many would have expected coming into the 2026 AFL season.

The Demons have won six of their nine matches so far but they come into this match as fair underdogs which makes them somewhat appealing.

They welcome Hawthorn FC to the MCG and the visitors have plenty of confidence themselves having only lost two of their nine matches. They are the only team to have beaten leaders Sydney and their season in shaping up nicely so far.

They do however come off a tough loss at the hands of Fremantle but they may only serve to motivate them more so to bounce back. We do like their chances of winning here but take them straight up rather than on the spread.
