Magdalena Frech vs Marketa Vondrousova prediction
A first-round draw against three-time Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur was a potential stumbling block for Magdalena Frech, but a crucial first-set tie-break went her way and she then stormed the second set 6-0 to book her place in the second round.
It is the third time that the Pole has reached this stage at the French Open, and she would break new ground at Roland Garros should she overcome Marketa Vondrousova.
That will be no easy feat though, as Vondrousova is a former finalist here and also made the quarter-finals last year where she lost to eventual champion Iga Swiatek.
The Czech star has been out for long periods with injury in recent times though, and was understandably rusty in her 6-4, 6-4 win over qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva in the first round.
With that in mind, this could be a close affair and one that could very well go to a deciding set.
