The Italian rallied to triumph 3-6 6-3 6-2 against the Austrian and set a first ever clash with Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
The towering Frenchman has only managed one victory since reaching the last eight at Winston-Salem, which is perhaps surprising given you’d expect the hardcourts to favour his powerhouse serve.
Nardi is the underdog at 88 in the world but Mpetshi Perricard has lost to two players ranked lower in that run of one win in five.
