Liverpool preview: Frustrated Reds
In midweek, Liverpool succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Turkish champions Galatasaray in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie but Arne Slot’s seven-time European champions will have to be confident of overturning that deficit at Anfield.
They sit just outside of the top five, and the likely UEFA Champions League qualifying spots, ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, sitting just below Chelsea on goal difference and three points behind Manchester United and Aston Villa.
Tottenham preview: Struggling Spurs
At the time of writing, interim coach until the end of the season Igor Tudor does remain in charge of Tottenham Hotspur but his four games thus far have been disastrous as Spurs hover just a point above the bottom three ahead of the match day.
Spurs have suffered four defeats from four under Tudor and they were humiliated in midweek as they were beaten 5-2 by Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano in a game in which they were 4-0 down after 22 minutes with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky substituted after 17.
Liverpool team news: Doubts for Alisson and Chiesa
Alisson missed out against Galatasaray with Giorgi Mamardashvili deputising well but Arne Slot has said he is hopeful that Alisson will return for this weekend.
Federico Chiesa is also a doubt due to illness but he should be available, while Giovanni Leoni remains sidelined alongside Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo and Alexander Isak.

Liverpool can’t take their eye off the ball in the league, despite a focus on Europe, and they will be expected to simply turn up and annihilate what is a Tottenham side that do appear to be sliding towards the Championship.
