Liverpool showed some fight last weekend as the Reds continue their hunt for a top five finish with the visit of Crystal Palace to Anfield.

Liverpool preview: Still under pressure

Liverpool come into this one on the back of a hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Everton in the Merseyside Derby with a last-gasp Virgil van Dijk winner in a game whereby the Toffees had the better of it.

Arne Slot remains under pressure for his job but, after all the mitigating circumstances for this season's regression, the Reds do have an excellent chance of securing UEFA Champions League qualification.

Crystal Palace preview: Lots to play for

They now face a Crystal Palace side that can be forgiven for being distracted as they prepare for their UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek.

The Eagles didn't show too much of that distraction with a decent performance as they were held to a goalless draw by relegation-battling West Ham United at Selhurst Park last weekend.

Liverpool team news: The goalkeeping issues

Giorgi Mamardashvili was forced off through injury in the Merseyside Derby and he will definitely be unavailable, too. However, Alisson has returned to training this week and so could be available, otherwise Freddie Woodman will start in goal.

Joe Gomez has been passed fit but Arne Slot has confirmed that Jayden Danns is still unavailable for the Premier League as he fights back to full match fitness.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Isak

Unavailable: Mamardashvili (Injured), Leoni (Injured), Bradley (Injured), Endo (Injured), Bajcetic (Injured), Ekitike (Injured), Danns (Injured)

Questionable: Alisson (Fitness)

Crystal Palace team news: Wharton returns

In his pre-match press conference, Oliver Glasner has confirmed that England international midfielder Adam Wharton has returned from an adductor issue here.

However, attacking duo Evann Guessand and Eddie Nketiah remain sidelined, while versatile defender Nathaniel Clyne is a doubt due to illness for the Eagles.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Canvot; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Sarr, Mateta, Johnson

Unavailable: Doucoure (Injured), Guessand (Injured), Nketiah (Injured)

Questionable: Clyne (Illness)

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace prediction

If Aston Villa win the UEFA Europa League then sixth will be enough for UEFA Champions League football and so Palace sit just seven points outside of the top six ahead of the weekend. Liverpool have been beaten by Palace in the Community Shield, the EFL Cup and in the league this season so the visitors will fancy themselves to punish a leaky home defence - but Liverpool have to remain favourites at Anfield.
