Leylah Fernandez vs Jasmine Paolini prediction

Leylah Fernandez made a very fast start at the tournament as she took the first set 6-0 against Queen’s Club champion Tatjana Maria. The Canadian then battled hard to win the second on a tiebreak and book her place into the next round of the tournament. 

She will face second seed Jasmine Paolini who was given a bye in the previous round. Paolini did not get off to a strong start on grass last week as she lost 6-1 6-3 to fellow Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur. The Italian was never in the contest, only creating one break point opportunity and will hope for a much improved display ahead of the third Grand Slam of the year.

This will be their first match on grass, but Fernandez does lead the head-to-head 2-1, with Paolini winning their most recent encounter in the second-round of the Dubai Tennis Championships last year. Fernandez is building some momentum, having reached the quarter-finals of Nottingham last week, and could certainly cause some problems for last year’s Wimbledon finalist.

We expect this match to go deep into a third set.
