This is a fascinating contest between two sides that have somewhat surprisingly started very well as Lazio welcome AC Milan down to Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Saturday.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – DAZN / USA – Paramount+ & DAZN

Lazio preview: Three from three

Over the summer, Lazio supporters appeared to finally reach the end of their tether with the presidency of Claudio Lotito and unrest has been apparent off the pitch but, on it, Gennaro Gattuso’s Laziale have started with three wins from three.

The Romans edged past Bologna by a goal to nil on the opening day before edging past Genoa, both with winners scored by Davide Frattesi. Frattesi then got their equaliser against Udinese before a late Albert Gudmundsson winner in Friuli last weekend.

AC Milan preview: Steady for Amorim

AC Milan missed out on the top four and UEFA Champions League qualification last season and opted to replace Massimiliano Allegri with former Manchester United and Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim.

Amorim’s Rossoneri have started well. They began with victories against Torino and then Venezia before a 1-1 draw with Juventus in Turin last week in a game in which they conceded a second half stoppage-time equaliser via Federico Gatti.

Lazio team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns for Lazio to deal with this weekend as Adam Marusic and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru work their way back to full fitness.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Mandas; Floriani Mussolini, Doekhi, Provstgaard, Tavares; Frattesi, Belahyane, Taylor; Isaksen, Pinamonti, Zaccagni

Unavailable: Furlanetto (Injured), Pellegrini (Injured), Patric (Injured), Cataldi (Injured), Rovella (Injured)

Questionable: Marusic (Injured), Dele-Bashiru (Injured)

AC Milan team news: Defensive doubts

AC Milan are dealing with fresh defensive injury doubts for this one such as centre-back Matteo Gabbia and former Lazio defender Mario Gila, who has been key in Ruben Amorim’s back three system.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Diego Moreira, Modric, Musah, Pervis Estupinan; Rabiot, Saelemaekers; Ramos

Unavailable:

Questionable: Gabbia (Injured), Maria Gila (Injured)

Lazio vs AC Milan prediction

Lazio have been extremely impressive. They haven’t necessarily been overly fluent nor brilliant to watch but Gattuso has ensured they look set to be difficult to beat throughout the campaign. AC Milan head down to the capital city also looking likelier to simply seek to avoid defeat and keep their unbeaten start intact so a lower scoring contest seems a decent bet for this one in Italy’s capital city.

Lazio vs AC Milan tip: Under 2.5 goals
