Jodie Burrage vs Moyuka Uchijima prediction
Jodie Burrage has not had the grass court season she would have hoped for up to now. A round-of-16 defeat to Linda Fruhvirtova in Birmingham was followed up by first-round defeats to Amanda Anisimova and Anca Todoni at Queen’s Club and the Nottingham Open respectively.
She faces Moyuka Uchijima in round one here. The Japanese number one has not featured on the tour since a first-round loss at the French Open to compatriot Nao Hibino. Uchijima made a superb run all the way to the the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open during the end of April but has really struggled to put any kind of run going since then.
Uchijima does not have a strong record on grass, will be short of match fitness having missed the past few weeks and has failed to win consecutive matches since that run in Madrid. This is a fine opportunity for Burrage to cause an upset.
