Jasmine Paolini lost to Aryna Sabalenka last time out in straight sets but she will be heartened by her performance in the second set where she pushed her hard. She will know that a win here will see her progress to the semi-finals so she will be fired up to get the win.
That will be easier said that done however as she has played the Chinese 22-year-old three times and she has lost in all three meetings.
Qinwen Zheng got back on track in her last match with a fighting win over Elena Rybakina in three sets. It was a tough match but she was visibly relieved with the win and she is playing hard in Riyadh this week, similar to Paolini.
