Viktorija Golubic is competing in her first event since the US Open, which ended at the first-round stage after a straight sets loss to Diane Parry. The Swiss player did reach the third-round of the Canadian Open last month, following wins over Kimberly Birrell and Donna Vekic. Her run ended against six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. Her best tour-level result of the campaign was a semi-final appearance in Nottingham.
She will face Alina Korneeva in round one. The teenager won three matches in a row at the Korea Open last week but was then forced to retire midway through her semi-final match against Maya Joint, trailing 2-6 0-1. She already impressed last month after her run to the round-of-16 in Toronto, while she has also won two lower-level titles in 2026.
Korneeva has been the more consistent player this season and also has the higher ceiling if she is performing to her best.
