Japan vs Indonesia prediction
Japan lost their first match of the third round AFC qualifying for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday as Australia grabbed a last-minute winner to inflict defeat. They will not have been too disheartened by that defeat however as they made rotations – much to Saudi Arabia’s annoyance – as preparations start now for the World Cup next year.
That will likely continue for this match against Indonesia with essentially nothing on the line for either team. Indonesia assured themselves of finishing in either third or fourth which is sufficient for a place in the next round of qualifying but they will be keen to build some more momentum with another positive result and performance.
They come off a 1-0 win over China and confidence is good but they will know that they face a stiff test here against a Japan side that beat them 0-4 on home soil.
This is likely to be a different kind of game to that one but Japan will still be motivated especially in front of their home fans to get a positive result. The players are playing for spots for next summer and we expect them to still have too much quality and energy for Indonesia here.
Japan vs Indonesia tip: Japan to win -1.5 goals
