Heidenheim vs Mainz prediction

Just for Heidenheim to be in with a very real chance of avoiding relegation from the Bundesliga, at least temporarily come the end of the regular season deserves celebration when considering the hopefully position Frank Schmidt’s side were in only a couple of months ago. Having been virtually stuck at the bottom of the table all season long, an unthinkable run of three wins, three draws and just one defeat in their last seven league games has seen them move off the bottom of the table and set up a final day showdown with Wolfsburg and St. Pauli.

To think, Heidenheim have won just six matches in the Bundesliga all season and half of those have come since the start of April. It’s been a truly remarkable story and whether it has a happy ending will depend on multiple results this weekend. Whilst St. Pauli and Wolfsburg do battle at the Millerntor, all Heidenheim can do is take care of their own business. Failing to beat Mainz relegates them and the visitors are a dangerous side. Comfortably in mid-table, Mainz have picked up four points from their last two fixtures on the road and are facing the side with the weakest defense in the division.

But Heidenheim certainly won’t back down and all the momentum is in their favour. The stage is set for what could be an enthralling game with Mainz having little to lose by pushing men forward whenever possible and prioritising an offensive playstyle. Therefore, consider backing over 2.5 goals as well as both teams finding the net.

Heidenheim vs Mainz tip: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
