The prediction

The Gold Coast Suns (3rd) continued their upstart season, securing a 19-point win over St Kilda at Marvel Stadium in Round 11, and with it, maintaining their strong grip on their place in the top four.

The Fremantle Dockers (9th) were dominant against Port Adelaide, thrashing them by 49 points at Optus Stadium in Perth to join a host of teams on six wins for the season.

Suns midfielder Matt Rowell was a tackling machine in their win against St Kilda. Known for his ferocious attack on both ball and opponent, Rowell laid 15 tackles in Round 11, easily the most of any player in the round. Any talk of him leaving the Suns for the footy haven of Melbourne keeps coming with a larger price tag with performances like these.

Fremantle will rely heavily on their ball-winning superstar, Caleb Serong. In their comprehensive victory over the Power, Serong was instrumental at the stoppages, winning a round-high 12 clearances. His ability to give the Dockers first use of the football will be vital in providing his team with a chance for the upset against the talented Suns midfield.

Recent matches between the Suns and Dockers have often been close affairs, with Fremantle having the upper hand. The Dockers claimed a 20-point victory last year and have won three of their last four clashes.

Gold Coast's home-ground advantage and their relentless pressure will test Fremantle. The midfield clash, particularly the clearance battle between Rowell and Serong's respective units, will be pivotal to the outcome.
