Now a veteran at the back, a treble winner at Manchester City, Manuel Akanji remains a rock at the back for Switzerland, having played a key role for Inter Milan in helping them win Serie A this season. The 30-year-old centre-back, who turns 31 on the day of the final, has over 80 caps for the Swiss national team and he is expected to again be a key man for Murat Yakin’s Swiss as they seek to build on an impressive UEFA EURO 2024, whereby they reached the quarter-finals before losing to England on penalties, with Akanji missing his spot-kick.
